AquaFire Base 40 Logs HYB-20-212 is a freestanding Opti-myst fireplace insert with decorative wood, designed to transform an old traditional open fireplace into an Opti-myst fireplace that creates flame effects using water vapour and LED lights. Therefore, the AquaFire Base emits no heat, but simply creates a visual flame effect.

AquaFire Base 40 Logs measures approximately 40 cm in width, making it suitable for various fireplaces. This version of the AquaFire Base 40 comes with a set of decorative wood to place on top of the fireplace.

Dimplex Cassette 400/600

The heart of the Base 40 Logs is an Opti-myst Cassette 400/600 burner unit developed by Dimplex. The cassette has a capacity of 1.2 litres of water and can "burn" for up to 8 hours on a single fill. When the fireplace needs refilling, it is done with ordinary tap water.

The Cassette 400/600 creates flame effects using a transducer that uses ultrasonic vibrations to mist the water, which is then illuminated by LED lights to create a unique flame effect.

A transducer lasts about 6-12 months, depending on usage, after which it needs to be replaced. A new original transducer costs around £30-£40 and takes only 2-3 minutes to replace yourself.

Installation

AquaFire Base 40 Logs requires no installation and simply needs to be placed where you want to use it. There is no need for a flue or chimney, and the unit only needs to be plugged into a standard 230V outlet.
